EBAY SELLING TIPS

How to Take Pictures: Tips Every eBayer Should Know

Good pictures make the sale. You aren’t going to buy a shirt on eBay when the seller has a pile of dirty socks and pizza from two nights before in the background. I always seem to click on the items with a nice background, whether it’s white, gray, or wood. It looks so much more professional. Here are 3 things you need to succeed at eBay (or Poshmark or Etsy) picture taking.

It’s All About the Camera

The day I upgraded from an iPad 4 to an iPad Pro with flash dramatically changed my pictures. If you are new at eBay, I definitely recommend getting a tablet with a good camera and using the eBay app. It’s a lot simpler and faster. Buying a new iPad Pro with flash was the best eBay investment. I definitely think flash is important for picture taking. I love using my iPad Pro for selling on eBay but if you choose to buy another tablet, hmake sure it has a high megapixel camera with flash. (Not all iPad Pros have flash, so double check before you buy.)

Background is Key

This is very important. It makes you look professional, which is key on eBay.  The most important rule to eBay pictures is make sure there’s nothing in the background. You need to buy a plain or cute wood background. If you aren’t wanting to invest any money in eBay, then you have to make the pictures cute. What kind of pictures does your favorite store use to sell their clothes online? What kind of pictures are trending on your social media? Those are the pictures that people will click on.

Get a Mannequin

Whether it’s a full size mannequin, a cheap plastic one, or a dress form, this is an important part of your pictures. I would recommend getting a solid color mannequin. The one I use most, is white with black wood It goes with every piece of clothing (except white- that’s when I break out my pink mannequin.) and it looks good in your main picture.

Summary

These 3 things will make a huge difference for your sales. If you are not ready to invest too much in your eBay store just yet, you can always go thrifty. Take pictures outside for lighting, use a white sheet, and do cute flat lays.

When you do buy to resell, don’t invest too much on each item, because you make money at the buy. List items just a little more than what they have been selling for. Keep your inventory organized as you list. Ship items that sell every night. Keep your shipping cost low, this is how you make more. Retake your pictures if your items are not selling. One thing to remember: if you don’t list, you don’t last. The more you list on eBay = the more you sell = the more you make. So don’t give up! Keep listing because eBay works.
